Decorating for the holidays while living the RV life is more straightforward and less stressful. You can still enjoy all the traditions you had in your home. However, in a camper, you'll want to pay more attention to budget and space in an RV camper. You'll decorate with just a few ornaments and décor that will change the look and feel of your camper into something festive and joyful.

So, there's not enough space in your RV for holiday decorations, storage, and decorating. Never fear. We'll share a few affordable tips, and when you're done with them, you can donate them or just give them a toss at the end of the holiday season. Let's get decorating and get into the Christmas spirit!

Affordable, simple RV decoration ideas for Christmas

Light up the Night

Beautiful, colorful Christmas lights bring such joy! The twinkling lights from Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Dollar Store, available at a low price, are a perfect way to light up your RV. Use them with a garland to frame windows, the door, and a slide-out. These lights will transform your RV into a festive and joyful space, adding a touch of magic to your holiday season.

A Christmas tree adds so much joy

Christmas trees can be various in size and construction—real pine, artificial, ceramic, decorated branch, crafted from paper or pinecones… In an RV, a tabletop size is just right to set on a dining or side table. Because a tabletop Christmas tree is small, presents may not fit. Still, it will hold small ornaments that have sentimental value.

It's about keeping your family's traditions alive, not the material the tree is made of or its size. Whether you find your tree in a store or DIY one from gathering items from the grounds of your campground, the important thing is that it brings the spirit of the season into your RV, connecting you to the holiday traditions you cherish.

Let's get crafty

Sharing the holidays is sharing your wealth in family and friends.

Making garlands has long been a tradition. From popcorn strung on a string to paper cut and folded to create a chain, other decoration ideas, such as a pom-pom or an artificial pine garland, are minimal and daintier. You want something that won't overpower and adds just that right touch. You can find the pom poms and string at your local dollar store or Walmart. Because these will be so cheap, there's no guilt if they're thrown away, donated, or used for something else.

DollarTree is still affordable at $1.25!

DollarTree is your friend during any holiday season. It is known for its cute, finished products and craft supplies for DIY projects. Check out this DIY how-to video using items from DollarTree.

A few additional decorations that create the holiday spirit

Decorative Christmas pillows add cheer to your camper's decor.

Everyone has those unique Christmas decorations with memories attached and are used yearly. Some are from childhood, and some are from an extra special event. You may want to incorporate those into your RV, but if you can't, consider taking pictures and having a rotating digital picture album that will fit on a table or your dashboard in a motorhome.

Pillows add warmth and color. Change them with the holiday and weather seasons. To avoid throwing away a whole pillow, consider pillow covers. Those will easily stow away in a storage bin that can be stored under the bed or in a closet or cabinet. Another option is to buy them from a thrift store and, at the end of the season, wash them and donate them back after the holiday season.

Another consideration for decorations is Christmas nightlights, which will add cheer to your camper. Use the nightlights in a bathroom or where you don't have counter or wall space. You can find cute holiday nightlights on Amazon for just a little money.

Hopefully, these suggestions will spark ideas for a creative holiday atmosphere in your RV for Christmas or any other holiday. If you have photos of your decorations, we'd love to see them. Email them to us or leave a comment below.
